The Commonwealth of the Bahamas is a small Caribbean multi-island nation which is a popular tourist destination in the Western Hemisphere. It is located to the east of Florida and to the north of Cuba. The culture in the Bahamas is a mixture between African and European, the African aspect being due to the slave trade. The Bahamas are low lying, [1] making them vulnerale to flooding during hurrianes.
In 2019 the Bahamas were hit by a devastating hurricane. There has been severe flooding and property damage. The government of the Bahamas has appealed for international aid. [2]
