Boston is the capital and largest city in Massachusetts, with a population of around 675,000 people. It is one of the best cities in the United States. It has a rich history, and is also very liberal. The city is home to the Freedom Trail, running through downtown with paths leading to historical sites highlighting America's history. Surrounding cities and towns include Quincy, Newton, Lynn, Brookline, and Waltham. Not too far down south there's Barnstable, Hyannis and Cape Cod. The John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum is also located here.

Boston is home to some of the most prestigious colleges and universities in the United States, such as Boston College, Boston University, Harvard, M.I.T., Brandeis and Wentworth Institute (a large list is here).

Boston is perhaps the best American city for sports teams. They are packed with powerhouse sports programs such as the Red Sox (Baseball), Patriots (American Football), Celtics (Basketball) and Bruins (Hockey). There is also the yearly Boston Marathon.

Boston is also the name of a classic rock band.
