John Calvin Coolidge Jr. was the thirtieth President of the United States and Vice President under Warren G. Harding. He was a conservative. He earned the nickname "Silent Cal" because while he made prominent speeches, in private he was a man of few words. He was a big proponent of "laissez-faire" capitalism, because its an economic system in which the President does not interfere. He was big on small-government, probably because he was lazy and wanted his job to be as easy as possible. His predecessors, Woodrow Wilson and Warren G. Harding, messed up worse than he did. Coolidge was blamed for starting the depression, although Herbert Hoover made it worse.

On the bright side, he was socially liberal, considering that he signed into law legislation that gave Native Americans citizenship and have several accomplishments before and during his presidency.
