The Central African Republic has a population of round 5 Million and borders Cameroon, Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of Congo and Sudan.

The Central African Republic is a country where there is extreme poverty. Child labour is a serious problem with children recruited as child soldiers among other abuses. [1]

The Central African Republic was originally a French Colony but gained independence in 1960. Since independence the history of the CAR has been a succession of Civil wars and coups. There were a few attempted peace settlements which later broke down leading to further civil war. The Central African Republic is one of the least developed nations in the world. In 2009 before the latest outbreak of civil war the Human rights record in the Central African Republic was poor and what will happen now is anyone's guess. [2] [3] [4][5]

A good point is that there are Savannahs and Rainforest with a large population of lowland gorillas and forest elephants. [6]
