Chemistry is about how atoms get together to form Molecules, also the properties of atoms and molecules. Quite a bit of chemistry overlaps with Physics. Chemistry deals with how atoms behave and interact as solids, liquids and gasses. Chemical elements are types of atoms, atoms of the same chemical element all have the same number of protons and electrons but the number of neutrons sometimes varies.
Inorganic and organic chemistry
Chemistry is divided into inorgnic chemistry which deals with non-living matter and organic chemistry which deals with living matter and matter that can potentially form living matter. Organic chemistry deals with carbon compounds a great deal. As with so much of science there isn't an absolute division between inorganic and organic chemistry, the two overlap a great deal.
