A Civil War is a war when two or more groups from the same country fight a war against each other. Civil wars are often bloody because both sides tend to see the other side as treacherous fellow countrymen, then a cry goes up, “Kill the traitors.”

Notable Civil wars were:-

  1. the English Civil war when Oliver Cromwell and the parliamentarians defeated King Charles 1st in the 17th Century.
  2. the American Civil War when the Northern states defeated the Southerners and freed the slaves in the 19th Century.
