A Civil War is a war when two or more groups from the same country fight a war against each other. Civil wars are often bloody because both sides tend to see the other side as treacherous fellow countrymen, then a cry goes up, “Kill the traitors.”
Notable Civil wars were:-
- the English Civil war when Oliver Cromwell and the parliamentarians defeated King Charles 1st in the 17th Century.
- the American Civil War when the Northern states defeated the Southerners and freed the slaves in the 19th Century.
