The English Channel is the seaway between Great Britain and France. It has existed for roughly eight thousand years since the last Ice Age. The physical separation of Britain from mainland Europe is a factor in making the British insular and culturally a bit distinct from the rest of Europe. It also prevented Nazi Germany invading during The second World War.
The English Channel separates England from France but also connects the Atlantic Ocean with the North Sea. It's one of the busiest shipping lands in the World.
