February is the shortest month of the year with 28 days in a normal year and 29 days in a leap year. There are Superstitions round February 29th, some suggest it's lucky, others unlucky. By a coincidence every leap year will later be a year of a Presidential election in the United States of America. This should happen till 2100 which should be an election year but not a leap year.
In the Northern Hemisphere February is often a dull, dreary month. It's still cold but at least people know winter won't last much longer.
In the Southern Hemisphere February comes towards the end of summer.
It is said that if the weather is fine and frosty at the close of January and the beginning of February, there is more winter ahead than behind.
When the cat lies in the sun in February
She will creep behind the stove in March.
Of all the months of the year
Curse a fair February.
If it thunders in February, it will frost in April.
If February give much snow,
A fine summer it doth foreshow.
As usual with that type of folklore there's no evidence for it but it's a nice poem.
