The Sponge Himself

SpongeBob Squarepants is the central character in the children's television show SpongeBob Squarepants. SpongeBob is a sea sponge (who, ironically, looks like a synthetic scrubbing sponge) who lives under the sea in a town called Bikini Bottom along with his obese friend Patrick, grouchy neighbor Squidward, scientist friend Sandy from Texas, crony-capitalist boss Mr. Krabs, among others. He lives in a pineapple house. He is NOT a homosexual. The show was created by Stephen Hillenburg, a marine biologist, who sadly passed away in late-2018 from the same disease affecting Stephen Hawking.

Clearly, a threat to Christianity

For some unknown reason, SpongeBob is very popular among gay men. Then the fundies concluded that SpongeBob is gay and have been after him since. [1]

In 2005, a promotional video which showed SpongeBob along with other characters from children's shows singing together to promote diversity and tolerance was attacked by an evangelical group headed by James Dobson in the United States because they saw the character SpongeBob being used as an advocate for homosexuality. The way he appears, lives, acts, and how he even is with his best friend, Patrick, he is gay and may even be Patrick's boyfriend.[2]

In the episode "Ugh" (also referred to as SpongeBob BC), the narrator begins with “Ah, dawn breaks over the primordial sea. It is here that millions of years ago, life began taking its first clumsy steps out of the darkness, opening its newly formed eyeballs to stare into the blinding light of intelligence.” (Transcript Reference) [3] This is an attack on the well established scientific theories that the world was created in 4004 BC.
