A map of Yemen.

Yemen is a country in south west Asia. Yemen is on the southern corner of the Arabian peninsula bordering Oman to the north east and Saudi Arabia to the North and North West. It was formerly a British colony and its main city Aden was a strategic base at the Southern end of the Red sea.

Yemen is an Arab country with an almost entirely Sunni Muslim population.[1] Its tribal violence keeps many industries of the country back, making it a country of mostly poor people.[2] This is despite being next to more wealthy countries like Oman and Saudi Arabia.

A longstanding local fashion for rhinocerous horn handled knives is one of the major causes of the poaching which endangers the world's wild Rhinos.

Much of the country is desert or semidesert, however it is quite mountainous and as temperature falls with altitude, there is agriculture in the highlands.
